Well on saturday, I was playing with the dog in our front yard. We were running back and forth and Daisy was chasing me. It was fun! She was behind me and was running much faster than I thought.... I turned around to run in the opposite direction and BAM! Daisy had run into my legs and made me do a belly flop! (Not really a belly flop, but I did end up on my syomach.) Thinking this was great fun to have me on the ground with her, Daisy proceeded to jump all over me while I was writhing in pain!!! I looked at my left hand (it's the one that cought most of my weight) and saw that my thumb was moved too far over, so I think it was dislocated. I got up and immediatly started to see spots. I hurried to get into the living room so I could get my feet up, and heard Chance getting into the shower. I tried calling for him, but couldn't tell if I was yelling loud enough because my ears were ringing too bad! So I had to wait. By the time he got out a few minutes later I was feeling a little better and could sit up, but my left wrist hurt REALLY bad. I could still move it though, so he didn't think it was broken.
I went to the doctor for a check up yesterday, and she said that where I was feeling pain at indicated that I might have fractured my scaphoid. (That's one of the really little bones in your wrist. Apparently it's one of the most common bones that break in a fall like mine, but goes undetected because you can still move your wrist.) She gave me a brace to wear that keeps my wrist and thumb mostly immovable, and sent me off to get an X-ray. The results came back normal but she said we are going to still treat it as a fracture, because it still could very well be fractured. I will go back in 2 weeks for a follow up. If I still have pain in that area, then I get another X-ray to look for any healing of fractures in that bone. Only time will tell!
